I got home from work the other day and there was a present sitting on the table.
An actual wrapped present.
It was a pretty decent-sized box, wrapped in red paper with polka dots all over it.
I looked at Stacy.
“There’s a present on the table.”
“Yes,” he said, all excited. “I got you something.”
Then he immediately followed it with, “It’s not much.”
First of all, I have absolutely no idea where this man found that wrapping paper. He had to search high and low through this house for that shit because I know damn well he didn’t go buy it.
But still. My husband had wrapped me a present for absolutely no reason, and he was clearly pretty pleased with himself.
So I opened it.
A fucking leaf blower.
“I got you a leaf blower, babe!”
Yay me.
Nothing says romance quite like new yard equipment.
But apparently Stacy had gotten himself a present too.
He went outside and came back with a brand-new weed eater.
So just to recap:
He bought me a leaf blower.
He bought himself a weed eater.
Granted, they’re both battery powered, which is actually pretty nice. They’re lightweight enough that I can easily use them, so I’ll give him points for that.
The next morning, I was walking with my mom and telling her about the very thoughtful gifts Stacy had purchased for us.
I told her, “He bought me a leaf blower and bought himself a weed eater.”
And Mom, without missing a beat, pointed out exactly what kind of marriage this apparently is:
“So you get to blow and he gets to whack.”
Well.
There it is. 😂
Twenty-something years together and apparently we’ve reached the his-and-hers power-tool stage of marriage.
And the worst part?
I actually kind of like my damn leaf blower.

I’d love to hear from you.
